MY STORY
My name is Caitlin Underwood and I am a NBCOT-certified and licensed occupational therapist and feeding specialist. I grew up with the unique privilege of being big sister to a young man with a dual-diagnosis of Down syndrome and Autism spectrum disorder and the experience led me to pursue a career in OT.
I completed my Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University and have since treated in the private practice clinic and early intervention settings. I developed a specialization in pediatric feeding when I realized how much I loved helping parents navigate the tricky world of stressful mealtimes, food refusals, and oral-motor development. In my time providing feeding therapy I have enjoyed working with children with a large variety of feeding difficulties, including: severe picky eating, feeding disorders, oral-motor deficit, Down syndrome, Autism spectrum disorder, severe sensory aversions, and gross/fine motor delays.
I am passionate about an approach to feeding therapy that places the child in the driver’s seat, respects their boundaries, and gives you and your family the tools you need to help your child continue to grow and develop- all while building a positive relationship with food.
